Getting everything right at NDRA Dallas
NDRA Dallas! The first event of the season is always exciting. And a little nerve racking. Marty Ladwig brought out his brand-new, never-been-run Chevy Cobalt Pro Outlaw FWD car.
This weekend, both he and Jason Hunt are running a new F.A.S.T. XFI controller, wiring harness, and Enginuity shift controller. We started on Marty's car Friday evening and struggled to get it to run right.
But, during the first qualifying run on Saturday, Jason and Marty lined their Cobalts u
p side-by-side and made nearly identical 7.52s runs.
Beautiful!
Hunt’s Matco Tools Cobalt went on to win the event with three more 7.50-ish passes, but Ladwig’s Lucas Oil Cobalt was only teasing us. The GM Racing team chased gremlins in that car for most of the weekend. We were feeling the pain of “breaking in” a new car, but we did get to see that the car has great potential and we were able to figure out most of the car’s issues (we think).
NHRA Moroso will be exciting; Chevy will be represented by Hunt’s proven and dialed-in Cobalt, versus the new S&W-built Cobalts of Ladwig and Gary Gardella, as well as the Cobalt uni-body of Bryan Jimenez. Will new and improved prevail? Or will tried and true win the race?
Until then, check out the rest of the pictures we took during our exciting weekend in Dallas.
