Rookie James Hunt Debuts at Daytona, Stars on Speed TV's New Reality Show
James Hunt has always wanted to race at Daytona and he got his chance during the Koni Challenge race on January 4.
SPEED TV.com did a great story and interview on James showcasing his background in motorsports.
“My name is James Hunt and I am a racecar driver,” he said. “I have been around racing since I was born, as both my father and brother raced.
“I started my racing career on downhill mountain bikes, which yielded two national championships. This quickly progressed to racing a car once I realized how much faster it was than a bicycle.”
“In preparation for Daytona I have been watching in-car video, talking to drivers that have raced at Daytona before, working with my driving and racing coach, Ian Carpenter, discussing setup with my team and to be honest, in admiration of the fact that my dream to race at Daytona is coming true!
“For my first ‘professional’ race, I will be running in the KONI Challenge Fresh From Florida 200 in the Street Tuner (ST) Class. I am driving for Team Cobalt California in the #98 Chevrolet Cobalt. My co-driver is Mike Skeen a young gun hot shoe, who is a good friend of mine.”
James recently finished filming a show called “Setup," which will air on SPEED TV starting on February 21. This is a reality show about finding the next up-and-coming superstar racecar driver. The show showcases 12 teams racing head-to-head in Pontiac Solstice GXPs.
