GM VIP ECOtec Event, Take One - Moroso Florida! Next Up: Englishtown NJ!
We had our very first GM VIP ECOtec event on Saturday April 5, 2008. The event took place at the NOPI Drift and Drag event held at Moroso Motorsports Park in West Palm Beach, Florida. The great thing about the event for GM ECOtec owners was the fact that GM took care of the costs of registration, so it didn’t cost the owners anything to come out to this great event.
As the sun rose early Saturday morning on Moroso Motorsports Park in Florida we could tell that there was going to be a great day ahead of us. We started off with a good turnout of a whole bunch of different ECOtec’s. Everything from hooked up Solstices, Sky’s, Redline’s and Cobalt SS/SC’s with elaborate paintjobs, the ECOtec owners showed us that they were waiting for one of these events for a long time to show their enthusiasm.
When the introductions were over we got to enjoy a massive BBQ that GM provided and where able to sit down right next to the racers and eat and talk with them. After lunch we had a chance to watch the ECOtec racers qualify and tear up the race track! We watched as the drag ECOtec’s dominated the field without mercy including Grace Howell putting the brand new All Motor ECOtec into the 9 second field in her first time behind the wheel.
After catching some of the drag action we headed over to the pits as we had a group tour of each of the racers' pit areas, and one on one time with them. Carmen Smith led us around the pits and helped answer all kinds of questions on the cars and motors. This was one of the biggest highlights, for sure!
Before the end of the day, all the ECOtec owners that made it to the event, left full of goodies! GM gave out an awesome goodie bag filled with great stuff - T’shirt, hat, posters etc. This was the ultimate weekend and a great time to meet and greet GM staff and ECOtec owners.
The
next event is going to take place at Englishtown, NJ at the NOPI Drag event on
May 3rd and 4th. Make sure to tell all your friends and
come out to the event. GM is going to pick up the bill for the registration
again, so make sure to go to www.NOPI.com to
register right away. The first 50 cars that pay and register will be reimbursed
when they arrive at the track on Sunday, May 4. If you decide to
come early and want to get in on Saturday, May 3 – come on over.
The registration pass is good for the whole weekend. It covers the driver and
car as well as one passenger!
