Three-Time Pro Front-Wheel-Drive Champ Jason Hunt Bringing the Matco Tools Chevy Cobalt to IHRA’s President’s Cup
Budd’s Creek, MD- Jason Hunt and Charlie Schafer Industries are bringing their 200 mph, tube chassis, front-wheel drive, four-cylinder Ecotec powered Chevy Cobalt out to play in Top Sportsman this weekend.
Hunt, who is the reigning NOPI PRO FWD Champion and who currently sits third in points, is trying his hand at competing against rear-wheel-drive, eight-cylinder, door slammers before heading out to Denver, CO next week. Maryland International Raceway is Hunt and team owner, Schafer’s home track and they were really excited when the race could work into their schedule.
“We will be happy to even qualify. The field will be large and fast, hopefully we can fall somewhere in the middle. I can’t wait to mix it up next to the rear wheel drive cars. I think some of the other competitors will be surprised at what 130 cubic inches can actually do.” informed Hunt.
The Matco Tools Pro Front Wheel Drive Chevy Cobalt is a Roush built all-tube chassis race car, with the big Mickey Thompson’s on the front, a Borg Warner Air Werks turbo, NGK spark plugs, MSD Ignition system and 1600 horsepower General Motors ECOtec engine.
